McCarthy will utilize years of business and technology experience to be a powerful contributor on the board of directors

The International Consortium of Minority Cyber Professionals (ICMCP) has announced that T.E.N.’s CEO and President Marci McCarthy will join their board of directors. For more than 20 years, McCarthy has made great strides in the business, entrepreneurial and technology realms, including founding T.E.N.’s flagship program - the Information Security Executive® of the Year (ISE®) Program Series and Awards.

“Marci has demonstrated to me her commitment to ‘paying it forward’ for generations of individuals that participate in or are planning to become cybersecurity professionals,” said Julian Waits, chairman of the board of directors at ICMCP. “Marci has done this with her clear commitment to the cybersecurity professional community; support of organizations that promote STEM and cyber-oriented education, like ICMCP; and her dedication as a patriot to our great country.”

On being chosen to be a part of the board of directors, McCarthy said: “It’s an honor to be appointed as a member of the ICMCP’s Board of Directors. I was a part of their strategic advisory board since its founding and am privileged to now be transitioning to their board of directors. The growth of the cyber industry in this modern era makes it a vital part of our community, both amongst the public and within our businesses. The passion and dedication to the cyber industry within the board and its members are inspiring and the board of directors will ensure that the ICMCP is capable of fostering a more successful future for the industry. I hope that my experiences as an entrepreneur and businesswoman within the cybersecurity industry will provide significant contributions to the board in their continuing endeavors to cultivate a powerful, educated cyber industry.”

McCarthy has dedicated much of her time to encouraging the furthered cyber and information security education among future generations, particularly with women and minorities. For over a decade, McCarthy has proudly served on the board of directors for TechBridge, which is a nonprofit that works with nonprofits on the frontline of breaking the cycle of generational poverty and provides the technology tools and resources needed to advance their missions more effectively and sustainably. Furthermore, she was a member of the International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals’ (ICMCP) Strategic Advisory Board since 2015, where McCarthy diligently facilitated the career advancement of existing professionals through mentoring and promoting public awareness of cybersecurity and other opportunities for minorities in the profession. In 2016, McCarthy was also welcomed as an honored member to the Atlanta Girls' School Board of Trustees to contribute her extensive knowledge and experience in cultivating young girls' minds and futures. In January of 2017, she was named the inaugural advisory council chair for the National Technology Security Coalition (NTSC), a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to driving the national dialogue on technology security in the United States. In 2019, she was elected to The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse Cyber Executive Board of Advisors. She also has been a guest instructor at their Technology Career Program which was created in partnership with Goodwill of North Georgia and is a free, part-time, 16-week technology and business education program designed to prepare unemployed or underemployed young adults for a career in the growing technology job market.
